Golden Gods: the gold trend for men
2008-01-26T14:45:52 - Rogue Fashion Trends |
Traditionally, more suited to Xerxes or muzza chest hair, gold is rarely associated with any self-respecting Melbournian heteropolitan. The colour first appeared as the it boot at Dior Hommes Everybody just looks the same Fall/Winter collection. Next it was Louis Vuitton, then Guccis overdose with Guccissima, Comme des Garcons, Junya Watanabe Comme des Garcons MAN, Supra sneakers and then of course, Converse.

Try wearing thin leather gold sneakers with your basic white dress shirt, black tie and black/indigo skinny jeans, or maybe even with a white tee with a simple print (i.e. NOT Ed Hardy) for a more Indie rock star feel. Alternatively try tucking in worn skinny/straight jeans into some gold hi-tops with your favourite limited edition street wear t-shirt.

Louis Vuitton Champs-Elysées Ring
2008-02-09T00:58:00 - Carrying Contraption |

Source: Eluxury
Can you imagine paying $355 for a stainless steel ring? I mean, I've seen costume jewelry from Chanel and Dior that are just as senseless and overpriced, but men don't wear costume jewelry.
Louis Vuitton Champs-Elysées Ring available at Eluxury.

The Christmas List: Spa Gifts for the Beauty Illiterate
2007-12-04T08:03:42 - Village Voice |
|
Full disclosure: The founders of Lifebooker, a new website which is like Open Table, but for spas, are friends of Threadster's. For the holidays, they have gift certificates, which means you can give your mom a massage without a) rubbing her anywhere, or b) having to figure out whether she wants reflexology or aromatherapy. Or she could decide to book some acupuncture or a fake tan or a Brazilian—ew—instead.
If you're not feeling the holiday spirit just yet, you might be more interested in this link, which tells you how to get $50 off any spa treatment through the website. You look like you could use an Ayurvedic Baltic Mud Wrap or something. |

Fashion Week: Day Two Live From The Tents
2008-02-03T02:51:59 - Style It Onlin |
Annoyance of the Day: Perez Hilton, occupying the MAC both for four hours while he was being “interviewed”. Apparently, he cannot blog with the common working class folk and must occupy scarce power outlets out of greed. Boo you whore.
Last Night @ Baby Phat: Andre Leon Talley and Kimora Simmons have kissed and made up. At least enough to bring her ad dollars to Vogue.
Last Night @ Victorya Hong’s show: Assorted Project Runway cast members, including Jay McCarroll, Jack McEnroth, Elisa Jimenz, Christian Siriano, and of course Victorya Hong.
Seen around the tents: Nicky Hilton, Nikki Blonsky, Sophia Bush, Laura Bennett, Jack McEnroth and Ellen Pompeo.
Boring day. Rude people. Too much caffiene.

Bargain shoes at 6pm
2008-02-07T15:24:50 - You Look Fab |
I learned about an interesting new online shoe store in the youlookfab forum: 6pm.com. It’s well worth a look because the selection is good and the prices are sensational. Most of the styles are between 45% and 70% off. I’m not sure if this is a blowout end of season sale, or whether they always sell the previous season’s shoes. Of course, there is nothing wrong with buying season old shoes and there are plenty of superb choices on this site.
The search facility works quite well, but you can’t narrow down your search as effectively as you can on Zappos. I haven’t ordered anything yet so I’m unsure of their service. I have noticed that you pay for shipping (about $7 each way) which means that you are out of pocket $14 if the shoes don’t work. This is something you’ll need to factor into the total price of your purchases.
I am still an absolute Zappos fan. If you order in the morning, your shoes on your doorstep the next day. And the shipping is free. But their prices aren’t nearly as good as those on 6pm.com, which means that I will be browsing both sites when next I’m looking for shoes online.

I’m impressed with 6pm.com’s footwear selection. It’s definitely different to Zappos, Endless and Piperlime. Thank you Mayapple for sharing your finds with us.

Only in today’s day and age can a teenager become famous by appearing on a scripted reality show. The Laguna Beach turned Hills star, Lauren Conrad, has been riding a high since MTV decided to cast film her and her life. While her internship at Teen Vogue is over, LC has ventured off on her own and now is designing clothing. Too bad her ex-boss, the genius Lisa Love, thinks her line is “more T-shirt kind of things and jeans, very simple basics.” Ouch! Love did not have great things to say about Lauren, especially about her love of partying, but the show must move on. Lauren Conrad has paired up with Linea Pelle to design her own line of handbags. She has been seen sporting the bags herself, but the wait is on to hear whether those in the fashion world think her bags are fab or drab. She designed three bags; the LC Tote, the LC coin purse, and the LC Clutch. All three are available online at Shop Intuition.
